The San Francisco Giants pummeled the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night by a score of 15-0, achieving some very dubious history for the home team.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

At 15-0, the Dodgers suffered their largest home shutout loss in 125 years.

On September 20, 1898, the Pirates won 15-0 at New Washington Park against the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Those 2 games make up the largest home shutout losses in Dodgers franchise history.

It's certainly a dejecting loss for the Dodgers, who are now 39-32 and 4.0 games back of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West. The Dodgers are just 0.5 games ahead of the Giants for second place, as well.

The game was also dejecting because previously unhittable rookie Bobby Miller was battered for seven earned runs in 5.2 innings. That was his first career loss (3-1) and raised his ERA to 2.83.

The game was actually scoreless until the fifth inning but the Giants scored four in the fifth, five in the sixth, three in the seventh and three in the ninth.

Seven of the nine Giants starters had hits in the win with four players registering multi-hit efforts.

The two teams will play again on Sunday as Logan Webb (5-6, 3.15 ERA) pitches against Tony Gonsolin for the Dodgers (4-1, 1.93 ERA).

The Dodgers will be off on Monday before starting a series on Tuesday with the cross-town Angels.

The Giants will be back in action on Monday against the division-rival San Diego Padres.
