Los Angeles Dodgers Teammates Do Something That Has Never Been Done Before
As the Los Angeles Dodgers race out to another eventual National League West championship, they are getting historic contributions from both Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts.
While it's been a foregone conclusion for months that Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. would win the National League MVP award, both players are doing what they can to get into the conversation.
Per @OptaSTATS on social media:
The @Dodgers' Freddie Freeman & Mookie Betts are the only pair of teammates in MLB history to each record 105+ R, 20+ HR & 10+ SB before September.
Entering play on Saturday, Freeman is hitting .341 with a .415 on-base percentage. He's connected on 23 home runs and 86 RBI to go along with 17 stolen bases.
The seven-time All-Star has also already won a National League MVP award while with the Braves and is a three-time Silver Slugger winner.
As for Betts, the 30-year-old is hitting .309 with 34 home runs and 89 RBI. He's stolen 10 bases and posted an OBP of .405.
He's a seven-time All-Star as well, who won an MVP with the 2018 Red Sox. He's also won a batting title, five Silver Slugger awards and six Gold Gloves.
The Dodgers take on the Red Sox on Saturday afternoon at Fenway Park. First pitch is slated for 4:10 p.m. ET as Red Sox lefty James Paxton pitches against Dodgers southpaw Julio Urias.
Paxton enters the game at 7-4 with a 3.79 ERA while Urias is 11-6 with a 4.15 ERA.
The two teams wrap up the series on Sunday.
