The Miami Marlins lost to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, 6-5, but even in the loss, Marlins infielder Luis Arraez made some team history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

today was LuIs Arraez’s sixth 4-hit game of the season that’s the most in a season in Marlins history, breaking a tie at 5 with 2007 Hanley Ramírez

IT’S JULY 15

Arraez went 4-5 in that performance as he continues his pursuit of trying to hit .400. If he's able to do so, he'd be the first player since Ted Williams in 1941 to hit over .400 for a season.

As of the time of this posting, Arraez is 0-1 on Sunday against the Orioles. He's hitting .385 for the season and is well on his way to winning a second consecutive batting title. He won last year's title in the American League with the Minnesota Twins and has been everything the Marlins could have wanted when they traded for him this offseason.

The Marlins entered play on Sunday as one of the most surprising teams in all of baseball this season. They are 53-41 and hold the top spot in the National League Wild Card race.

The Orioles currently lead the Marlins, 3-0, in the second inning.

As for Hanley Ramirez, whom Arraez passed on Saturday, he spent 15 years in the big leagues including seven with the Marlins. He won the Rookie of the Year award with Miami and was a three-time All-Star.

The Marlins will visit the St. Louis Cardinals for a series beginning on Monday.
