The Miami Marlins beat the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, 2-0, to sweep the three-game series at Fenway Park.

It was 0-0 into the eighth inning but then the Marlins got solo runs in the eighth and ninth to get the win, which was their 48th of the season.

The Marlins are now 48-34 and 14 games over .500. With that distinction, they've joined a very special club in team history.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

This is the 3rd season in Marlins franchise history that they've been at least 14 games over .500. They won the World Series in each of the previous 2 seasons (2003 & 1997)

That's certainly some good vibes for the Fish, who beat the Cleveland Franchise in the 1997 World Series and the Yankees in 2003. The Marlins have the best pure hitter in the game in Luis Arraez and elite starting pitching, so they are certainly primed to make a run this year too.

Unfortunately for them, the Marlins are in the same division as the best-in-National League Atlanta Braves, so they are six games back in the National League East. But the Marlins do hold the top Wild Card spot by 2.5 games at the time of this posting over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Marlins will open up a huge weekend series with the Braves on Friday night in Atlanta. Bryan Hoeing will pitch for Miami in game one of the series. He's 1-1 with a 2.31 ERA.

First pitch is slated for 7:20 p.m. ET.
