Minnesota Twins Might Adjust Schedule For Ace in Wake of History-Making Poor Stretch

The Minnesota Twins might be adjusting the schedule for ace pitcher Joe Ryan on the heels of his team history-making poor stretch.

The Minnesota Twins, in first place in the American League Central, might be changing up the schedule for ace pitcher Joe Ryan in the wake of a history-making poor stretch.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli suggested late Wednesday that Ryan might get extra rest between his next start, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

ANALYSIS
Ryan struggled again in a loss at St. Louis on Wednesday, yielding seven runs on nine hits -- four homers -- over just four innings. He's given up 17 home runs across his last seven starts, the most of any Twins pitcher over a seven-start stretch in franchise history. Ryan currently lines up to work Monday's series opener at Detroit, but the Twins could push him back to a later date in that four-game set as he works on some mechanical tweaks.

Ryan allowed home runs to Tyler O'Neill, Jordan Walker, Lars Nootbaar and Alec Burleson in the loss on Wednesday. That defeat put him at 9-8 on the season and he now owns a 4.43 ERA.

Minnesota is 55-54 on the year and is ahead of the Cleveland Guardians in the Central.

The Twins will play the Cardinals again on Thursday night at Busch Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:45 p.m. ET as Sonny Gray (MIN) pitches against Matthew Liberatore (STL).

Gray is 4-4 on the season with a 3.22 ERA while Liberatore is 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA. The Twins will play the Arizona Diamondbacks this weekend.
