Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray is off to a historic start this season.

He currently leads all of baseball in ERA at 1.64 but what's historic is his ability to keep the ball in yard.

The Twitter account @StatMuse has the information:

Sonny Gray this season:

49.1 IP

1.64 ERA (1st)

0 HR allowed (!!)

10.95 K/9

First Twin with 0 HR allowed in first 9 starts of a season since 1944.

In the era of the home run, it's certainly amazing to see not one player connect for a round-tripper against Gray through nearly 50 innings.

In addition to the sparkling 1.64 ERA, Gray is 4-0 for the first-place Twins. He's struck out 60 batters in those 49.1 innings.

For his career, Gray is 94-77 with a 3.50 ERA. He made his major league debut in 2013 with the Oakland Athletics, spending 2013- part of 2017 with Oakland. He was with the Yankees for part of 2017 and all of 2018 before going to the Reds (2019-2021) and the Twins (2022-now).

Gray was a first-round selection out of Vanderbilt (No. 18 overall) in the 2011 draft.

The Twins are currently 25-21 on the season and will finish out a series with the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday at 4:07 p.m. ET.
