New York Yankees Bats Go Historically Cold in Sweep vs. Los Angeles Angels

The New York Yankees lost to the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday by a score of 7-3. With the loss, the Yankees are now 50-47, in last place in the American League East and 3.5 games back in the battle for the third and final wild card spot.
The game - and series - were frustrating on many levels. Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon got into it with the fans as he left the field on Wednesday and the Yankees bats went historically cold all series long.
Per ESPN Stats & Info:
The Yankees lineup struck out 42 times in their series vs the Angels, their 2nd-most in a 3-game series in franchise history. New York struck out 43 times vs the White Sox in 2021.

It's not surprising that both of those figures are from the last few years, as the strikeout has taken off in prevalence over the last decade, but it's still jarring to see a Yankees organization known for offense not be able to put the ball in play.
The Yankees K'd 16 times on Wednesday after fanning nine times on Tuesday and 17 times on Monday.
The Yankees will be off on Thursday but will have a chance to get right over the weekend against the Kansas City Royals.
The Royals enter Thursday with the second-worst record in all of baseball at 28-69. They'll take on the Tigers on Thursday afternoon before flying to New York.
The first game of the series will be Friday night at 7:05 p.m. ET.
