New York Yankees' Carlos Rodon Looking to Turn it Around; Currently on Wrong Side of Team History

New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon hasn't had his Yankees tenure start out the way he was hoping.

When the New York Yankees take on the New York Mets on Wednesday night, Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon will be looking to reverse his fortunes.

The Yankees biggest offseason acquisition has struggled since coming off the injured list and is currently on the wrong side of team history.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Carlos Rodón takes the mound for the Yankees tonight against the Mets, seeking his first win in pinstripes.

Last time out, Rodón became the 4th Yankee pitcher to go 0-3 with an ERA over 7 in his first 3 games in the Bronx.

The 30-year-old lefty has an ERA of 7.36 and also only has 11 strikeouts in his first 14.2 innings. This coming from a guy that struck out 237 batters a season ago with the San Francisco Giants. That season earned him the six-year, $162 million payday with the Yankees this offseason.

Lifetime, he's 56-49 with a 3.66 ERA.

The Yankees need a turn-around performance as they continue to battle in the crowded American League playoff picture. They enter play on Wednesday at 53-48 and in last place in the American League East.

They are also 2.5 games out of the third and final wild card spot and will likely need to make multiple moves at the trade deadline to get into true contention.

The Yankees and Mets will play at 7:05 p.m. ET as Rodon is opposed by veteran lefty Jose Quintana.

He's 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA and has made one start since coming off the injured list himself.
