Oakland Athletics Do Something They've Never Done in 55 Years with Another Loss on Tuesday
The Oakland Athletics lost to the Minnesota Twins 11-3 on Tuesday night, marking the A's 109th loss of the season.
Oakland is now 48-109 and has lost eight of its last 10 games.
It's their most losses in franchise history since moving to Oakland in 1968, per ESPN Stats & Info:
The A's lost their 109th game tonight, their most in a season since the franchise moved to Oakland in 1968.
109 losses are tied with 1915 for the 2nd-most in franchise history, trailing only the 1916 team (117).
Both of those seasons were when the team was in Philadelphia.
It's been a dreadful season for the A's all around. The team has been swirled in relocation rumors nearly all season as the ownership group is fighting to take the team to Las Vegas.
Furthermore, the A's have continued to drain the organization of top-end talent, trading away Chris Bassitt, Sean Manaea, Matt Olson, Matt Chapman and Sean Murphy in the last few years. Murphy was traded to the Atlanta Braves prior to this season.
The A's have a .306 winning percentage, which is only rivaled by the Royals (.344) and Rockies (.363).
The A's will take on the Twins again on Wednesday night. First pitch from Target Field is set for 7:40 p.m. ET as Joey Estes (OAK) battles against Pablo Lopez (MIN).
Estes is 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA and just made his major league debut while Lopez is 11-8 with a 3.61 ERA. He's already been named the Game 1 starter for the Twins in the playoffs.
