Offensive Explosions Lead to Unprecedented Night in Baseball
If you look up and down the scores from Tuesday night in Major League Baseball you'll notice one thing: Offense.
All around baseball, teams were putting up double-digit runs, and the league itself did something its never done before in its history:
Per @OptaSTATS on Twitter:
Today marks the first time in MLB history that 12 different teams scored double-digit runs in a game.
-The Dodgers scored 10 runs in a 10-3 win over the Orioles as Jayson Heyward hit a three-run homer
-The Guardians put up 10 runs in a 10-1 win over the Pirates as Josh Naylor homered twice and drove in six runs.
-The Mets beat the Chicago White Sox 11-10 in a wild game as Francisco Alvarez homered twice. The Mets squandered a big lead by allowing the White Sox to come back but were able to hold on at the end.
-In wildest game of the night, the Diamondbacks beat the Braves, 16-13 to snap a four-game losing skid.
-The Giants beat the Reds, also 11-10, which ran the Reds losing streak to six games. The Giants now have a seven-game winning streak.
-The Cubs put up 17 runs in a lopsided affair against the Washington Nationals, winning 17-3. Seiya Suzuki had four hits and a homer in that one.
-In another 11-10 game, the Royals outlasted the Tigers as Dairon Blanco had four hits and three RBI.
-And finally, the Twins overcame an early 3-2 deficit to beat the Mariners, 10-3. Minnesota is now 49-47 on the season.
We'll see what baseball brings us on Wednesday....
