The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night 10-0 to take a 2-0 series lead in the NLCS.

The Phillies, who have rolled through this postseason, are just two wins away from the World Series. They are seeking their second National League title in as many years.

While in a 10-run outburst the offense gets undeniable credit, the team's pitching staff also deserves credit as well. In this postseason run over the Marlins, Braves and D'Backs, the team has done something not done for the last 40 years of baseball history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

lowest ERA in 1st 8 games of single postseason:

1983 Orioles: 1.23

2023 Phillies: 1.39

Veteran right-hander Aaron Nola went 6.0 shutout innings in the win. He gave up just three hits , walked none and struck out seven. A free agent at the end of the year, Nola is making himself more money with every great October start.

Behind him, it was Jeff Hoffman, Matt Strahm and Orion Kerkering who shut the door. In Game 1, Zack Wheeler was phenomenal as well, going 6.0 innings and allowing just two runs.

Game 3 of the series will be played on Thursday night as the series shifts to Arizona for the first time. The Phillies have not announced a starting pitcher yet but it figures to be lefty Ranger Suarez. If not him, it could be righty Taijuan Walker.

The Diamondbacks are going to counter with Brandon Pfaadt, who is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA this postseason.
