We knew that when Andrew McCutchen returned to Pittsburgh this offseason, there would be a lot of nostalgia, but we didn't know just how good it would be.

It started with the rousing ovation he got for his first at-bat back at PNC Park, and it continued Tuesday night when McCutchen made team history.

By getting his 1,500th hit as a Pirate in the win over the Texas Rangers, he became the first player in team history to have 1,500 hits, 200 home runs and 175 stolen bases.

The 36-year-old is having a nice return to Pittsburgh as well, hitting .274 thus far with seven home runs.

Through his career, he has now spent 10 years in Pittsburgh. As evidenced by the stats, he truly has been one of the best players in franchise history. He made five All-Star teams with Pittsburgh, won a Gold Glove and took home MVP honors in 2013.

For the totality of his career, he has also spent three years with the Philadelphia Phillies, one year with the Milwaukee Brewers and part of one year each with the Giants and Yankees.

For his career, he's a .277 hitter with 294 home runs. Presuming he can hit six more home runs this season, the Pirates faithful will have another chance to celebrate when he hits career home run No. 300.

Unfortunately, the Pirates lost to the Rangers on Wednesday by a score of 3-2. The Pirates are now 25-24 on the season and 2.0 games back in the National League Central.
