Pittsburgh Pirates' Henry Davis Does Something to Shohei Ohtani That No One Ever Has

Pittsburgh Pirates youngster and former No. 1 overall draft pick Henry Davis got to Shohei Ohtani for two home runs on Friday night.

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night, 8-5, but that didn't stop Pirates rookie and former No. 1 overall draft pick Henry Davis from making a little history.

Davis hit a home run in the fourth inning, and then connected on another home run in the sixth inning, both off of Shohei Ohtani, which makes him the first player to ever take Ohtani deep twice in the same game.

After the loss, the Pirates are now 42-55 on the season, the great start erased by futility over the last two months, so the rest of the season is about young player development - and this certainly counts.

The former Louisville star is now hitting .295 across 95 at-bats at the major league level. He's got four homers, 11 RBI, three stolen bases, and has posted a .391 on-base percentage.

Despite Davis's prowess, Ohtani still got the win on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings and striking out nine. He did give up five earned runs but moved to 8-5 overall.

The Angels have now won four straight games and are back to two games over .500. They are 50-48 and eight games behind in the American League West.

As for the wild card, they are currently 4.0 games back of the final wild card spot.

With the trade deadline looming less than two weeks from now, the Angels have to decide whether or not to trade Ohtani, so every win that puts them closer to playoff contention leaves them in a better spot to keep him.

The two teams play again on Saturday. First pitch is 9:07 p.m. ET.
