The Los Angeles Angels had a historic win against the Chicago White Sox on Monday night (you can read about it here), but the team wasn't the only one making history: Left-handed starter Reid Detmers also made some history, joining Shohei Ohtani and Nolan Ryan in an elite club.

Detmers went seven innings on the mound, allowing one run on two hits. He walked two and struck out 10. He got a no decision, but lowered his season ERA to 3.77.

As for the history, that comes from ESPN Stats & Info:

Reid Detmers joins Shohei Ohtani (2022) and Nolan Ryan (2x) as the only Angels in franchise history with 1 or fewer ER and 8+ K in 4 consecutive pitching appearances

It's been a great run for Detmers, who has really started to come into his own. His record doesn't show it (1-5) but he's made significant improvement this year and has the strikeout numbers to prove it. He's K'd 94 batters in just 76.1 innings.

For his career, he's 9-14 with a 4.10 ERA.

His development is key to the Angels season as well. The Halos are trying to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and are trying to convince Shohei Ohtani to stay in free agency after the season. If Detmers can add another layer to the team's pitching staff as he has, both of those things get easier.

The Angels are now 43-36 on the season and are tied for second place in the American League West.
