The San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants on Thursday by a score of 10-0.

Despite that lopsided result, the game made a little baseball history.

Per @OptaSTATS on Twitter:

The Padres snapped the Giants' 10-game winning streak with a 10-0 win. It's the first time a winning streak of 10+ games has ended with a shutout loss by 10+ runs since the 1977 Phillies saw their 13-game streak end with a 13-0 loss to the Expos in Montreal.

The Giants 10-game winning streak had to end sometime, but that's certainly a disappointing way for it to happen.

With the win, the Padres are now 36-39 on the season while the loss moves the Giants to 42-33. The Giants are in second place in the National League West, 3.5 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Padres are 9.5 games back. The Giants currently own the second wild card spot in the NL while the Padres are 5.5 back.

Blake Snell delivered another masterful start for San Diego, going six innings, walking none and striking out 11. He moved to 4-6 with a 3.22 ERA.

Alex Wood took the loss for the Giants, lasting just 3.1 innings and allowing six runs. He's now 2-2 with a 5.17 ERA.

The Padres will host the Washington Nationals on Friday at 9:40 p.m. ET as Patrick Corbin goes for Washington and Joe Musgrove goes for San Diego.

The Giants host the Diamondbacks at 10:15 p.m. ET. Logan Webb gets the ball for the homestanding Giants.
