San Diego Padres' Star Juan Soto Climbs Up Hall of Fame List in Baseball History on Wednesday
We're not saying that San Diego Padres star Juan Soto is going to be a Baseball Hall of Famer, but we are telling you that he's in an incredible group in baseball history -- with all Hall of Famers.
With a sterling game on Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners, Soto continues to distinguish himself as one of the game's best talents.
At the time of this posting, the Padres lead the Mariners, 8-0, in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Soto is currently 4-4 with three RBI and a run scored and has raised his batting average to .262.
As for the history, Sarah Langs of MLB.com has more:
most games reaching base safely 4+ times, before turning 25 (since 1901):
Ted Williams: 81
Juan Soto: 69
Mickey Mantle: 69
Jimmie Foxx: 68
Any time that you can pass Jimmie Foxx on a list and join Mickey Mantle, that's saying something.
Soto is still just 24 years old and is one of the most decorated young players in recent memory. He helped the Nationals win the World Series in 2019 and has 135 career home runs and 404 RBI.
He's already a three-time Silver Slugger, a two-time All-Star, a home run derby champion and the winner of a batting title.
Assuming the Padres hold on and win this game, they'll move to 29-33 on the season and will still be in fourth place in the National League West.
A loss would move the Mariners to 30-31, also in fourth place, but in the American League West.
