The San Diego Padres beat the Colorado Rockies 8-5 on Tuesday night. The win moved San Diego to 53-55 and kept them at 5.0 games back in the National League wild card race.

It also came hours after the Padres asserted themselves as buyers at the trade deadline, getting Rich Hill, Ji-Man Choi and Garrett Cooper in deals.

The win was fueled by Padres superstar Juan Soto, who continues his bounceback year at the plate. He went 2-for-5 with two runs and four RBI in the victory. His multi-homer day also continued to move him up these impressive ranks in baseball history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Juan Soto now has 15 multi-HR games, tied for 5th-most before turning 25, behind:

Eddie Mathews: 19

Hal Trosky: 18

Mel Ott: 17

Bob Horner: 17

Soto is in his sixth year in the big leagues with the Nationals and Padres, so it's hard to even remember that he's just 24 years old. He's hitting .275 this season with 22 homers and 68 RBI. Lifetime, he's a .285 hitter.

That's elite company that he's keeping as Mathews was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1978 after a career that saw him hit 512 home runs.

Trosky hit 228 career homers over an 11-year career that saw him play with the Cleveland franchise and the White Sox. He had a league-leading 136 RBI back in 1936.

Ott was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1951 and hit 511 homers lifetime.

Horner hit 218 homers in a career that spanned 10 years with the Braves and Cardinals.
