San Diego Padres Superstar Juan Soto Continues Late-Season Charge Up the Record Books
The San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 4-0 on Tuesday night behind the sweet-swings of outfielder Juan Soto.
The 24-year-old superstar continued his late-season charge by hitting two home runs in the victory. He went 3-for-4 in all and is now hitting .276 this season with 35 homers and 108 RBI. He's also stolen 11 bases and has posted a .934 OPS.
Soto has been on a tear recently, hitting .349 over his last 30 games and .446 over his last 15. He's got 11 homers over the last 30 games as well.
He also continues to re-write the baseball record books for people under the age of 25.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
Juan Soto now has 160 career HR, tied for 7th-most before turning 25, behind only:
Eddie Mathews: 190
Mel Ott: 176
Jimmie Foxx: 174
Mickey Mantle: 173
Ken Griffey Jr: 172
Alex Rodriguez: 172
Considering that's some of the most prestigious names in baseball history and several Hall of Famers, that's great company to be in.
Langs had more on Soto's prowess:
Juan Soto now has 17 multi-HR games, tied with Mel Ott and Bob Horner for 3rd-most before turning 25, behind:
Eddie Mathews: 19
Hal Trosky: 18
Because Soto is in his sixth year in the big leagues, it's hard to remember just how young he is. Having made his debut at the age of 19, he's already a three-time All-Star, a three-time Silver Slugger, a batting champion, a Home Run Derby champion and a World Series winner (2019).
The Padres are now 78-80 on the season and will play the Giants again on Wednesday night at 9:45 p.m. ET.
