Julio Rodriguez Made Even More Seattle Mariners History in Series vs. Kansas City Royals

We already told you that Julio Rodriguez had a historic series against the Kansas City Royals, but it turns out it was far more historic than we even thought.

Julio Rodriguez had five hits, including a game-winning home run, in Thursday's 6-4 win for the Seattle Mariners against the Kansas City Royals.

With the performance in the game - and the series - Rodriguez made plenty of team and baseball history. We told you that here.

But it turns out that Rodriguez made even more history with his ridiculous output in this series.

Per Mariners PR on social media:

Julio Rodríguez is the 4th player in @Mariners history with 20+ HR and 30+ SB in a single season:

Julio Rodríguez (20+ HR/30+ SB, 2023)

Alex Rodriguez (42 HR/46 SB, 1998)

Mike Cameron (25 HR/31 SB, 2002)

Mike Cameron (25 HR/34 SB, 2001)

Ruppert Jones (21 HR/33 SB, 1979)

That's elite company there for Rodriguez, who helped the Mariners take 3-of-4 really tough games in Kansas City.

As a result, the Mariners have won three games in a row and are back to 11 games over .500 at 66-55. They are back to within 0.5 games of the third and final wild card spot, which is currently being held by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Sarah Langs of MLB.com also added this about Rodriguez's performance:

Julio Rodríguez’s 12 hits in KC were the most in a series of any length in Mariners history

Rodriguez is now hitting .269 for the season with 20 home runs, 78 RBI and 30 stolen bases. He's carrying an .780 OPS and made his second All-Star team this year.

The Mariners will take on the Houston Astros in a critical series this weekend. First pitch on Friday is 8:10 p.m. ET.
