The Seattle Mariners came from behind on Wednesday afternoon to beat the Boston Red Sox by a score of 6-3. It was a critical win for the M's, who took the series and vaulted themselves to just 3.0 games back in the wild card race, as of this posting.

The win was fueled by a home run from Cal Raleigh but also by second-year superstar Julio Rodriguez.

Rodriguez had an RBI single as part of a four-run seventh inning and also stole home, becoming the first Mariners player to do that since 2019.

Rodriguez stole home as part of a first-and-third play. Rodriguez was on third base as Eugenio Suarez tried to steal second. As the throw came to second to get Suarez, he stopped short of the bag and Rodriguez broke for home, beating the return throw.

It was a great day for Rodriguez, who isn't having the same kind of year he had in 2022, when he won the American League Rookie of the Year. He's hitting .251 with 17 homers and 58 RBI. He now has 25 stolen bases and is sporting an OPS of .732.

The Mariners are now 56-52 on the season and will begin a critical four-game series with the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night in Anaheim.

First pitch from Angel Stadium is set for 9:38 p.m. ET as Mariners rookie Bryan Woo pitches against Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani.

Woo is 1-3 on the season with a 4.96 ERA while Ohtani is 9-5 with a 3.43 ERA.

The Angels are 56-53 and 0.5 games behind the Mariners in the battle for the playoffs.
