The Seattle Mariners beat the Kansas City Royals on Sunday by a score of 3-2 to continue their incredible hot streak.

Seattle has now won three straight and nine of their last 10 games as they've moved into sole possession of first place in the American League West. It's the latest that the Mariners have been in first place since 2003.

The big blast on Sunday came from Mariners star Julio Rodriguez, who also has had a torrid month at the plate.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Julio Rodriguez is the 2nd player in Mariners history with 40+ hits and 10+ SB in a calendar month.

He joins Ichiro Suzuki, who did so 4 times.

Ichiro is in the Mariners Hall of Fame and will be a first-ballot Baseball Hall of Famer, so to join him on any list is a great accomplishment for the 22-year-old Rodriguez.

He's now hitting .281 this season through 530 at-bats with 23 home runs and 84 RBI. He's got 35 stolen bases and an .814 OPS.

He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2022 and has already put up better numbers than that year. He had 75 RBI and 25 steals a season ago.

The Mariners will look to continue their recent run when they host the Oakland Athletics on Monday night.

First pitch is set for 9:40 p.m. ET as Bryan Woo gets the ball for Seattle.

The rookie right-hander is 1-3 with a 4.58 ERA.

The A's haven't named a starter yet as of this posting.
