Superstar Bryce Harper Joins Incredible Company as Historic Stats Pile Up
By going 2-for-3 with a home run on Tuesday in a loss to the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper joined an elite list with some of the best players currently in the sport.
Per ESPN Stats & Info:
Bryce Harper is the 6th active player to record 1,500 hits and 300 HR in his first 12 MLB seasons, joining:
Miguel Cabrera
Mike Trout
Nolan Arenado
Paul Goldschmidt
Manny Machado
Considering that list is full of Hall of Famers and future Hall of Famers, that's truly a special achievement for Harper. Since coming back from Tommy John surgery at the end of May, Harper is hitting .297 this year with 17 homers, 61 RBI and nine stolen bases. He's posted an .888 OPS through his 411 at-bats and is hoping to get the Phillies back to the World Series for the second straight year.
One of the most accomplished players of the last decade, Harper is a seven-time All-Star, a Rookie of the Year winner and a two-time MVP.
He's in his 12th year in the big leagues with the Nationals and Phillies. Lifetime, he's a .281 hitter with a .390 on-base percentage. He's hit 302 homers and driven in 878 runs.
The Phillies will play the Braves again on Wednesday night. First pitch is 6:40 p.m. ET. as Spencer Strider (ATL) pitches against Christopher Sanchez (PHI).
Strider is 16-5 this season with a 3.83 ERA. He's the best strikeout artist in the game, having fanned a league-high 250 hitters this year. Sanchez is 2-3 with a 3.26.
