Tampa Bay Rays' Star Accomplishes Something No Player Has Ever Done Before on Wednesday
As the Tampa Bay Rays try to catch the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East race, Rays star Randy Arozarena is making some baseball history.
The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 3-0 extra-inning win over the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena enjoyed a big 10th inning, knocking in a pair of runs with a one-out single and subsequently stealing both second and third base. The star outfielder has swiped five bags over his past three games to reach 20 thefts on the campaign. He's already at 21 homers, so he's now logged three consecutive 20/20 seasons, becoming the first player in major-league history to accomplish that across his first three full campaigns in the big leagues.
The slugger made his full-time debut in 2021, hitting 20 homers and stealing 20 bases exactly while he hit 20 homers and stole 32 bases in 2022.
He's hitting .261 this season with a robust .373 on-base percentage and made the All-Star team. It's been a great year of baseball in general for Arozarena, as he was also one of the stars of the World Baseball Classic for Team Mexico.
The Rays are currently 82-52 and trail the Orioles by 1.5 games in the American League East race.
They've won eight of their last 10 games and will take on the Cleveland Guardians for a series beginning on Friday.
First pitch from Progressive Field is set for 7:10 p.m. ET.
