The Atlanta Braves are Closing in More Baseball Home Run Immortality

The Atlanta Braves have now homered in 28 straight games, which is the second longest streak in baseball history.

The legend of the Atlanta Braves power just keeps growing. The Braves, already owners of the most home runs in the first half of a baseball season, are closing in on another record in home run history.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

The Braves have hit a HR in 28 straight games, the 2nd-longest streak in MLB history (2019 Yankees, 31 straight).

The home run certainly has become more prevalent in the last 30 years, so these records are more attainable in modern baseball, but what the Braves have done has been downright staggering.

They feature the home run leader in the National League (Matt Olson, 30), the probable MVP in the National League (Ronald Acuna Jr.) and they have seven players that have double-digit home runs (Olson, Acuna, Ozzie Albies, Sean Murphy, Marcell Ozuna, Austin Riley and Eddie Rosario).

It's this power, coupled with power starting pitching, that make the Braves the favorite to get to the World Series in the National League - and perhaps the favorite to win the entire thing.

The team also recently received good news on both Max Fried and Kyle Wright, further intensifying the belief in them.

The Braves will look to take the series - and extend their home streak - against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday at Truist Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. as Dylan Cease goes for Chicago and Kolby Allard goes for the Braves.

Cease is 3-3 with a 4.30 ERA while Allard is 0-0 with a 4.22 ERA.

The Braves are 61-30, Chicago is 39-55.
