Toronto Blue Jays' Ace Moves to Top of Unfortunate All-Time List in Team History

The Toronto Blue Jays suffered a very tough loss on Tuesday night, falling 2-0 to the New York Yankees at Rogers Centre.
Yankees' rookie Austin Wells hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning off of Jays' closer Jordan Romano in the win.
Toronto is now 87-70 on the season. While they currently hold the No. 2 wild card spot in the American League, they are only 2.0 games away from being out of the playoffs entirely, so wins are critical at this juncture.
The loss also wasted an excellent performance from Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman, who threw 7.0 scoreless innings. He took the no-decision despite allowing just three hits and striking out five.

That's difficult company to be in for Gausman, who has been great this year. The 32-year-old is 12-9 with a 3.16 ERA. He's struck out a whopping 237 batters in 185.0 innings as well.
He's in his second year in Toronto after spending time with the Orioles, Braves, Reds, and Giants. Lifetime, he's 88-91 with a 3.84 ERA.
The Yankees and Blue Jays play each other again on Wednesday night at 7:07 p.m. ET. Gerrit Cole (NYY) pitches against Jose Berrios (TOR).
