The Toronto Blue Jays beat the San Francisco Giants, 2-1, on Thursday night to move to 45-37 on the season.

The win was fueled by another great pitching performance from Jays offseason acquisition Chris Bassitt. The veteran righty went six innings, surrendering three hits and three walks while striking out 12. He's now 8-5 on the season with a 4.06 ERA.

He's also now part of some very elite baseball history with teammate Kevin Gausman.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Kevin Gausman & Chris Bassitt of the @BlueJays each have 6 games with 6 IP & 0 ER before July. Only 1 other pair of teammates has done that since ER became official in 1913:

Dutch Leonard & Rube Foster of the 1914 Red Sox.

That's great productivity from the starting rotation as the Jays look to make the playoffs again this season. Bassitt has struck out 93 batters in 99.2 innings this season while Gausman leads the American League in K's with 139.

Bassitt is in his ninth year in the big leagues with the White Sox, Athletics, Mets and Jays. He's a career 54-39 pitcher with a 3.53 ERA.

After the win, Toronto is 10.0 games back in the American League East. They also hold the final wild card spot in the American League by 0.5 games over the Houston Astros.

Toronto will open up a divisional series on Friday when they host the Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre. First pitch is set for 7:07 p.m. ET.
