The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Oakland Athletics 7-1 on Tuesday night to move into the third and final wild card spot position in the American League.

Toronto is now 77-62 and leads the Texas Rangers for that final spot by 0.5 games.

In the win, Blue Jays rookie Davis Schneider went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, continuing the historic start to his career.

Per @StatsCentre on social media:

Most extra base hits prior to a player's 20th career game - MLB modern era (1900-present):

17- Bo Bichette

16- Mandy Brooks

16- Joe DiMaggio

15- Greg Jefferies

15- Chris Dickerson

14- @BlueJays Davis Schneider

14- George Scott

14- Miguel Andujar

14- Yordan Alvarez

14- Pete Alonso

That's certainly a good list to be working your way through. In the wake of injuries to Bo Bichette and Matt Chapman, he's provided much-needed offense, hitting .381 overall with six homers, 18 RBI and a stolen bases through 63 at-bats.

He's currently the No. 13 prospect in the Jays organization. The following comes from his MLB.com prospect profile:

It may not be a flashy brand of baseball, but Schneider has an advanced plate approach and knows how to get on base. There’s some legitimate pop in there too from his strong build. After 17 games at Triple-A in ’22, he handled the test provided by pitchers at that level, where he played second base, the corner outfield spots, first and third. Even if there aren’t true standout tools here, you don’t have to squint too hard to see how Schneider could continue to be a utility option for Toronto as a right-handed bat off the bench.

He's been more than for Toronto, hitting second in the order on Tuesday night.

The Blue Jays and A's will play again on Wednesday afternoon.

First pitch is 3:37 p.m. ET.
