Young Toronto Blue Jays All-Star Now Has the All-Time Lead in This Section of the Team's Home Run Record Books
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday 9-5 as first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit two home runs.
The Home Run Derby champion for this year's All-Star festivities went 2-for-5 with the two home runs and now has 26 on the season. In addition, he's also got 94 RBI, five stolen bases and is sporting a .266 average.
The performance also earned him the top spot in the team record books.
Per @StatsCentre on social media:
Most career multi-home run games by a @BlueJays player prior to their 25th birthday:
9- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Cranking 2 in today's key win over TB)
8- Bo Bichette
6- Jesse Barfield
5- Fred McGriff
4- John Olerud
4- Vernon Wells
4- Alejandro Kirk
3- Lloyd Moseby
2- Rowdy Tellez
Considering Guerrero Jr. doesn't turn 25 until the offseason, he'll have more chances to add onto that resume before the end of the season. One of the more accomplished young hitters in the game, he's a lifetime .280 hitter with 130 homers and 404 RBI.
He's looking to help lead the Jays to the playoffs for the second consecutive season and for the third time in four years.
Toronto is currently 87-69 and in sole possession of the second wild card spot in the American League. They lead the Seattle Mariners by 2.5 games, who are the first team on the outside looking in.
The Blue Jays will play again on Tuesday against the New York Yankees. First pitch from Rogers Centre is 7:07 p.m. ET.
