An Injury Update and Rehab Timeline on New York Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton
The New York Yankees had been hoping to get injured slugger Giancarlo Stanton out on a rehab assignment this weekend, but that's not going to happen.
Stanton has been out since mid-April with a hamstring strain.
Greg Joyce of the New York Post tweeted out an update after the Yankees lost to the Orioles on Thursday night.
No rehab assignment for Giancarlo Stanton this weekend, per Boone, but they’re hoping he can go out on one early next week. The testing on his hamstring today showed it was healing “kind of how they expected,” Boone said.
The 33-year-old Stanton is a five-time all-star, a two-time silver slugger, a home run derby champion and he won the National League MVP in 2017 with the Marlins.
For his career, he's a .264 hitter with 382 home runs. He pairs with Aaron Judge to make one of the most dangerous home run duos in the entire sport.
For this season, he's out to a .269 start with four home runs.
The Yankees are 30-22 after the loss to the Orioles on Thursday. They are currently in third place in the American League East. They trail the Orioles by four games for second place and trail the Rays by seven games for first place. The Red Sox are in fourth place in the division while the Blue Jays are in last currently.
The Yankees will start a new series with the San Diego Padres on Friday at 7:05 p.m. ET. Joe Musgrove will pitch for San Diego while Randy Vasquez will make his major league debut for New York.
