Atlanta Braves Injury Update on Michael Harris II
After an early season full of injuries, the Atlanta Braves are getting closer to being whole.
The team has already returned starting pitchers Kyle Wright and Max Fried from the injured list and is getting closer to getting Collin McHugh back to the bullpen.
They are still out catcher Travis D'Arnaud but he's getting closer too. Orlando Arcia, the team's starting shortstop is out with a microfracture in his left wrist and closer Raisel Iglesias is working back also.
There was also some good news that came out today on reigning National League Rookie of the Year Michael Harris II.
In a tweet, Braves Insider Grant McAuley said this:
"Michael Harris II (lower back strain) did some sprinting in the OF, ran the bases and slid head first in addition to live BP against Raisel Iglesias. #Braves MGR Brian Snitker said they hope to get Harris out for a couple of games on a rehab assignment soon."
Harris's return will be a major boon to an already great offense when he comes back. He made his debut last year and played 114 games, hitting .297 with 19 home runs, 64 RBI and 20 stolen bases.
In the early going this season, before the injury, Harris II was hitting .217 with no home runs and one RBI.
The Braves defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday by a score of 11-0. With the win, Atlanta is now 15-8 and in first place in the National League East. They are one game ahead of the New York Mets, three ahead of Miami, four ahead of the Phillies and seven ahead of the Nationals.
