The Atlanta Braves were dealt yet another tough injury blow on Tuesday, as it was announced that starting pitcher Ian Anderson would miss the rest of the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Anderson was a key part of the Braves 2020 and 2021 postseason runs, even tossing five scoreless innings in the World Series in 2021. He hasn't been the same since, struggling to an ERA of 5.00 in 2022, and maybe now, we have some clarity as to why.

The team is also without the still re-habbing Mike Soroka and has been without starting pitcher Max Fried since just after Opening Day, closer Raisel Iglesias since the end of spring training and catcher Travis d'Arnaud was put on the injured list this weekend.

Braves Insider Grant McAuley provided some updates on the health of the Braves on social media.

He tweeted that "Max Fried will run tomorrow (Wednesday) and test the hamstring covering first. He threw off the mound today and maintained a good routine. Braves are hopeful he can be back when eligible next week."

He also shared the following update on Iglesias:

"Raisel Iglesias is throwing -- long toss for now -- but is hoping to ramp up soon. No exact timetable at the moment, but making progress."

And on d'Arnaud:

"Brian Snitker said Travis d'Arnaud is feeling better. They'll keep monitoring his progress as he goes through the 7-day concussion IL."

The Braves beat the Reds on a walk-off home run by Sean Murphy on Monday night and are looking to take Game 2 tonight as well. It begins at 7:20 p.m. ET and Kyle Wright makes his first start of the year.
