Atlanta Braves Officially Place Pitcher Kyle Wright on Injured List
The Atlanta Braves started out the season with an incredible amount of bad luck on the injury front, then got healthier, and are now going in the wrong direction again.
The team officially placed starting pitcher Kyle Wright on the injured list with shoulder inflammation and called up pitcher Dylan Dodd, who started on Thursday.
Right shoulder inflammation is the official diagnosis for Wright, who threw just 55 pitches on Wednesday in a start against the Miami Marlins.
He started the year on the injured list with shoulder soreness suffered in spring training, so this certainly is something to monitor.
Since being activated from the injured list in mid-April, Wright is 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA.
He had an unbelievable year in 2022, acting as the only 20-game winner in the National League. He went 21-5 to lead the league in wins and posted a 3.19 ERA in just over 180 innings. He finished 10th in the National League Cy Young voting and helped the Braves win the National League East.
In addition to Wright, the Braves are still dealing with injuries to shortstop Orlando Arcia, who had a microfracture in his left wrist, Ian Anderson, who is out for the year with Tommy John surgery, and Michael Harris II, who was out of the lineup on Thursday.
In Wright's place, Dodd has currently thrown 4.1 innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs. He's walked none and struck out zero.
The Braves currently lead the Marlins, 4-3, in the bottom of the fifth inning.
