Baltimore Orioles Bullpen Finds Awesome Way to Honor Injured Felix Bautista
The Baltimore Orioles are waiting nervously for word on the severity of the injury to ace closer Felix Bautista.
Bautista went on the injured list on Saturday with damage to his UCL but the team doesn't know the extent of that damage just yet.
Despite his being unavailable on Saturday night, Bautista's bullpen mates found a way to honor him by hilariously putting a Bautista bobblehead on top of the bullpen.
A bullpen is one of the closest cliques on a baseball team and the O's showed that in the win over the Rockies.
Baltimore won 5-4 as Yennier Cano got the save in Bautista's absence. He pitched a perfect ninth and now has five saves this year and a 1.60 ERA.
After the win, the O's are an American League-best 81-48. They lead the American League East by 3.0 games over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Bautista is 8-2 out of the bullpen this season with a microscopic 1.48 ERA. He's got 33 saves and has struck out a whopping 110 batters in 61.0 innings. Regularly able to touch 100 mph, he's one of the most uncomfortable at-bats in all of baseball. The team will hope for the best with regards to his elbow injury and his chances to help them chase a World Series this year.
The Orioles and Rockies will play again on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:35 p.m. ET from Camden Yards.
Jack Flaherty (BAL) goes up against Ty Blach for the Rockies.
Flaherty is 8-8 with a 4.73 ERA.
