Baltimore Orioles' Fivesome Prepared to Break Team Record ASAP
The Baltimore Orioles beat the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night, 11-3, at Camden Yards.
The O's jumped all over Twins' starting pitcher Chris Paddack, scoring three runs in the second inning and four runs in the third. The home run ball continues to be a big part of the O's success in the early going, as Gunnar Henderson, Jordan Westburg and Ryan O'Hearn each hit homers in the win.
Speaking of those three, they are a part of some unique team history in the early going, and they have their eyes set on breaking a longstanding record.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
with Cedric Mullins, Colton Cowser, Gunnar Henderson, Jordan Westburg + Ryan O’Hearn, the O’s have 5 players with 4+ HR
that’s tied with 1966 for their most such players thru 20 games in a season in franchise history (SLB/BAL), and tonight is only game 17
1966: Boog Powell, Brooks Robinson, Curt Blefary, Davey Johnson, Frank Robinson
Baltimore won 101 games last year and captured the American League East crown and the young ballclub appears ready to do more damage in 2024. Though they play in a gauntlet in the American League East, they'll remain one of the favorites to win the American League pennant.
The Orioles and Twins will play each other again on Wednesday afternoon with first pitch from Canden Yards coming at 1:05 p.m. ET.
Pablo Lopez (1-2, 4.86 ERA) gets the ball for Minnesota while the Orioles have not named a starter at the time of this posting.
