Chicago White Sox Lineup Key to Be Out Multiple Days with Injury

After leaving the game on Sunday with injury, Eloy Jimenez is expected to miss multiple games with a groin injury.

After leaving the game early on Sunday with injury, Eloy Jimenez is now expected to miss multiple games with a groin injury for the Chicago White Sox.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Sunday that Jimenez (groin) could be out 4-to-5 days, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

ANALYSIS
Jimenez got hurt on the day he returned to outfield duty, though he was injured running to first base Sunday, not while playing the field. Regardless, it sounds like the team is preparing to be without Jimenez for several days at least. He will be re-evaluated before Chicago's series against the Mets in New York.

Unfortunately, injuries are a trend with Jimenez. Since debuting in 2019, he's had only one full season over 100 games (2019 - 122). He did play 55 of a possible 60 in the COVID 2020 season but played only 55 in 2021, 84 in 2022 and he's missed time this year as well, playing in just 61 games thus far.

It's just another gut punch for the White Sox, who have been among the most underwhelming teams in baseball this season. Entering play on Monday, Chicago is 40-55 and in fourth place in the American League Central.

Jimenez is hitting .269 this season with 12 home runs and 40 RBI. Lifetime, he's a .275 hitter who has popped 83 homers and driven in 251.

The White Sox just two of three from the Atlanta Braves and will play the Mets on Tuesday.
