Cincinnati Reds Have Target Date For Injury Return For Hunter Greene

As the Cincinnati Reds push for the playoffs for the first time since 2020, they are hoping to have Hunter Greene available for the last month of the season.
The righty now has a target date for return from the injured list.
The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
Greene (hip) has an estimated return date of Aug. 20, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Greene emerged from Tuesday's side session no worse for wear and threw live batting practice Friday, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. The right-hander has been out since mid-June with right hip issues and has been working lately on strengthening core stability. A specific target date for his return has now come into focus, with a couple starts in the minors on a rehab assignment looking likely, perhaps starting next weekend.
That's excellent news for a Reds team that entered play on Friday at 1.5 games back in the National League Central race. Getting Greene back, and potentially Nick Lodolo, would add depth and firepower to a rotation has been tattered over the last few months.
Greene is armed with one of the best fastballs in the game. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the draft in 2017 out of the California high school ranks.
This season, he's 2-4 with a 3.93 ERA. He's struck out 100 batters in 73.1 innings.
For his career, he's 7-17 with a 4.25 ERA.
The Reds are 56-48 and taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.
First pitch is 10:10 p.m. ET.
