Colorado Rockies' Kris Bryant Makes Positive Progress in Injury Recovery
The Colorado Rockies, who have the worst winning percentage in the National League, got some rare good news on Monday as they revealed that outfielder Kris Bryant is getting closer to a return.
The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
Bryant (heel) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Albuquerque.
ANALYSIS
Bryant has been on the injured list for all of June due to a left heel bruise, which is very likely related to his year-long battle with plantar fasciitis. He seems to be trending in the right direction now, though, and would appear on track return to the Rockies around the first week of July. When healthy this season, the 31-year-old has slashed .263/.346/.374 with five homers and 17 RBI in 50 games.
While the Rockies may not be going anywhere this season, it will be nice to get Bryant back. He was forecast as the centerpiece of the offense when he signed with Colorado prior to the 2022 season.
He's in his ninth major league season, having played for the Cubs, Giants and Rockies. He helped the Cubs win the 2016 World Series, has won a Rookie of the Year award and a National League MVP award. He's also a four-time All-Star selection.
A lifetime .279 hitter, Bryant has hit 177 career homers and has brought in 518.
The Rockies (31-49) will host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night at Coors Field. Connor Seabold (1-3, 5.88) pitches for the Rockies while Clayton Kershaw (9-4, 2.72) pitches for LA.
