Just last week, ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney discussed the impact of a toe injury on New York Yankees star Aaron Judge. Olney said that he was worried about the injury lingering and how it could affect the slugger's performance.

This week, Olney is painting an even more dire picture, opining that Judge could be out much longer than originally feared.

Speaking to the 'Brady Farkas Show' on WDEV Radio on Thursday, Olney had this to say about Judge and his timeline:

"Think about the injury that he has: it's a right big toe injury for a guy who is six-foot-seven and 282 pounds. For a right-handed hitter, the right big toe is effectively an anchor in his swing. So the pressure he puts on that part of his foot, his toe, is enormous. The Yankees want to make sure that they don't bring him back too soon because otherwise they'd have a turf toe situation. I think they would be be thrilled if he played before the All-Star break."

After winning the MVP a season ago, Judge is hitting .291 this year with 19 homers and 40 RBI. He's added three stolen bases. For his career, he's a .284 hitter with 239 home runs.

Judge signed a massive nine-year, $360 million contract this offseason that will likely keep him in New York for the rest of his career. In addition to the MVP award, Judge has won Rookie of the Year, a home run derby title, three Silver Slugger awards, and is a four-time All-Star selection.

The Yankees are currently 39-30 and in third place in the American League East.

They open up a series with the Red Sox on Friday at 7:10 p.m. ET.
