After leaving Friday's game with a shoulder injury, the Kansas City Royals have officially placed first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino on the injured list.

It's another blow to the Royals development, as Pasquantino is one of the central figures of the organizational rebuild.

Draftkings Nation had the information on Twitter:

MLB INJURY ALERT: Royals 1B Vinnie Pasquantino (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day injured list.

The injury doesn't matter much in terms of the Royals ability to win games, as they enter Saturday as the second-worst team in major league baseball, but again, his development is a point of emphasis for the team. He and Bobby Witt Jr. figure to be the focal points of the team's future.

He made his major league debut in 2022 and is a lifetime .272 hitter with 19 homers and 52 RBI.

This year, he's hitting .247 with nine homers and 26 RBI.

The 25-year-old was an 11th-round pick in the 2019 draft out of Old Dominion University.

The Royals are currently 18-45 and in last place in the American League Central. They'll play Saturday at 4:05 p.m. ET against the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore enters at 39-24.

Right-handed pitcher Brady Singer will pitch for Kansas City. He's 4-4 with a 6.45 ERA while lefty Cole Irvin will go for Baltimore. He's 0-2 with a 10.38 ERA at the major league level this year.

He was acquired in the offseason in a trade with the Oakland Athletics but has spent much of the year pitching at Triple-A.
