Milwaukee Brewers Lose Valuable Rotation Member to Injured List
The Milwaukee Brewers currently lead the National League Central by two games over the Cincinnati Reds, but it isn't all good news.
The team has placed veteran lefty and valuable rotation member Wade Miley on the 15-day injured list with elbow problems.
The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
Miley was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday due to left elbow discomfort.
ANALYSIS
Miley last pitched July 9 against the Reds and picked up the win after firing six shutout innings, but there had been no word of any injury until Monday. The move is retroactive to Friday, so he'll be eligible for activation beginning July 29. Colin Rea is the likely candidate to make Miley's next scheduled start Wednesday against the Phillies.
While Miley doesn't flash tremendous pure "stuff," he has gone 6-2 for the Brewers this season across 13 starts. He's got a 3.06 ERA as well, but unfortunately this is his second time on the injured list.
Lifetime, Miley is 105-96 with a 4.08 ERA. He's made 305 career starts in 13 years with the Diamondbacks, Red Sox, Mariners, Orioles, Twins, Astros, Reds, Cubs and Brewers.
He was named an All-Star in 2012 with Arizona and has won double-digit games in five career seasons.
The Brewers are currently 52-42 and have won seven of their last 10 games - and four straight.
They'll take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night at 6:40 p.m. ET.
Veteran Julio Teheran (2-3, 3.64) pitches for Milwaukee against Aaron Nola.
