Milwaukee Brewers Set to Get Back Integral Starting Pitcher This Weekend
The Milwaukee Brewers, who enter play on Thursday at 0.5 games back in the National League Central, are set to get back a key member of their starting rotation this weekend.
The following update on Brandon Woodruff comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
Woodruff (shoulder) is scheduled to return to the Brewers' rotation Sunday against the Pirates, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Woodruff posted an encouraging 3.09 ERA and 11:2 K:BB over 11.2 innings during his three-start minor league rehab assignment between High-A Wisconsin and Triple-A Nashville. He got up to 72 pitches Tuesday in his final outing on the farm and might be able to approach 85-to-90 pitches in his return to Milwaukee. The 30-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since mid-April because of a Grade 2 subscapular strain.
It's another key return for the Brewers, who also just got back Wade Miley from the injured list. In addition to battling with the Reds and Cubs in the National League Central, the Brewers are also battling in the wild card race.
Milwaukee enters play on Thursday at 0.5 games up for the final spot.
The Mississippi State product is in his seventh year in the big leagues. He owns a lifetime 42-25 record with a 3.14 ERA.
The Brewers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET as Adrian Houser (MIL) pitches against Mitch Keller (PIT).
Houser is 3-3 with a 4.43 ERA while Keller is 9-7 with a 3.97 ERA.
