Minnesota Twins Get Positive Injury News Regarding First Baseman Alex Kirilloff

It turns out that the shoulder procedure for Minnesota Twins first baseman Alex Kirilloff was less invasive than originally thought, and he has a chance to be full-go for spring training.

The Minnesota Twins received some good news on Wednesday regarding the health of first baseman Alex Kiriloff.

Per Dan Hayes of 'The Athletic:

Heard no tear was discovered during Alex Kirilloff's labrum surgery, procedure was less invasive.

That's certainly good news for Minnesota, and it gives him a chance to be healthy for spring training next year. The 25-year-old is coming off a year in which he battled the injury pretty extensively. He had just 281 at-bats this season and was taken off the ALDS roster because of his shoulder issues.

He hit .270 in the regular season with 11 homers and 41 RBI. For a lineup that led baseball in strikeouts, Kirilloff provides the desired ability to make contact, so having him healthy in 2024 will be a big boost to Rocco Baldelli's lineup.

The Twins will also be happy to have one less question heading into the offseason. There is the constant question of the health of Byron Buxton's knee, and the question around the free agency of Sonny Gray and if they'll look to re-sign him. Furthermore, the team will enjoy a full season of a healthy Royce Lewis, who put up big numbers in the playoffs.

Minnesota won the American League Central this past season and then beat the Toronto Blue Jays in the wild card round. They were beaten by the Houston Astros in four games during the ALDS. The Astros went on to lose to the Texas Rangers in seven games in the ALCS.
