Minnesota Twins Star Carlos Correa Details Foot Injury, Calls it a "Struggle"

Minnesota Twins star Carlos Correa spoke to Ken Rosenthal of 'The Athletic' about being diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and how its impacted his season.

Earlier on Monday, we had good news on the Minnesota Twins when it came to the health front. The team got back Joe Ryan this past weekend from the injured list and Willi Castro, Alex Kirilloff and Byron Buxton are all getting closer to rehab assignments.

However, the news isn't all good as star shortstop Carlos Correa also detailed just how big an issue his ailing foot is.

Per an article from Ken Rosenthal of 'The Athletic."

“Every step is a struggle. It’s not easy to deal with,” Correa said. “Out of all the things I’ve played with in my career, there’s nothing more painful than what I’ve been through this year. But I’m pushing through it. If it had been a free-agent year, I probably would have sat out more time to let it heal. But I’m here to help the team win games. Just my presence, I feel I need to be out there.”

Correa was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and has slumped to a .225 average this year with 16 home runs and 57 RBI. He's got just a .308 on-base percentage, but has turned in an .882 OPS over his last 18 games.

The Twins are currently 68-63 on the season and lead the American League Central by 6.0 games over the Cleveland Guardians. They'll take on the Guardians on Monday night in Minnesota.

First pitch is set for 7:40 p.m. ET as Xzavion Curry (CLE) pitches against veteran righty Kenta Maeda.

Maeda is 3-7 this year with a 4.22 ERA.
