On Thursday, ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney told me that he feared that the New York Yankees would be without star Aaron Judge until at least the All-Star break.

On Friday, more information has come out that seems to make that fear more likely of bcoming a reality.

Per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com on Twitter:

Aaron Judge had another PRP injection in his toe during yesterday’s off-day, per Aaron Boone. There is a second ligament that has been bothering him. Still no timetable for return.

That certainly doesn't sound encouraging for the brawny slugger, who is the main driver for the Yankees offense.

For what it's worth, manager Aaron Boone said he thinks there is a chance that Judge is back before the All-Star break, but he really wasn't sure.

Asked if Aaron Judge could potentially return before the July 11 All-Star Game, Aaron Boone said: “I think there’s a shot for that. That said, I don’t know. I mean, I think he could be back in a week. He could be back in four. I don’t know."

It's highly doubtful that Judge is back in a week. He needs to prove he can move and swing comfortably and could even require a rehab appearance.

His absence is incredibly noteworthy for a Yankees team that is dependent on the home run -- and for him to hit them.

After winning the MVP a season ago, Judge is hitting .291 this year with 19 homers and 40 RBI. He's added three stolen bases. For his career, he's a .284 hitter with 239 home runs.

Judge signed a massive nine-year, $360 million contract this offseason that will likely keep him in New York for the rest of his career. In addition to the MVP award, Judge has won Rookie of the Year, a home run derby title, three Silver Slugger awards, and is a four-time All-Star selection.

The Yankees are currently 39-30 and in third place in the American League East.

They open up a series with the Red Sox on Friday at 7:10 p.m. ET.
