The New York Yankees are hosting the Chicago White Sox as we write this.

Star Aaron Judge is not in the lineup for New York today, still battling a toe issue from that crash into the wall at Dodger Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Manager Aaron Boone discussed the potential for Judge to end up on the injured list before the game on Tuesday.

Pete Caldera of the Bergen-Record had the following on Twitter:

Per Boone, Yankees still uncertain if Judge will be placed on IL, more medical evaluation on his right big toe. Stay tuned as they say. Swelling has been reduced, Boone said, one positive sign.

Judge has already been on the IL once this year for a hip issue, and any additional absences would cause major issues for a Yankees team that is among the best in baseball -- when Judge plays.

After winning the MVP a season ago, he's hitting .291 this year with 19 homers and 40 RBI. He's added three stolen bases. For his career, he's a .284 hitter with 239 home runs.

Judge signed a massive nine-year, $360 million contract this offseason that will likely keep him in New York for the rest of his career. In addition to the MVP award, Judge has won Rookie of the Year, a home run derby title, three Silver Slugger awards, and is a four-time All-Star selection.

The Yankees trail the White Sox, 1-0, currently. It's the top of the third inning.

The Yankees entered play on Tuesday at 36-25.
