Philadelphia Phillies outfielder and former major league top prospect  Cristian Pache is going to be out for 4-6 weeks after injuring his knee on Saturday against the Houston Astros.

He tore his meniscus in his right knee and underwent surgery.

Pache was acquired by the Phillies right before Opening Day after being designated for assignment by the Oakland Athletics. The A's acquired him from the Atlanta Braves in the trade that sent Matt Olson to Atlanta before the 2022 season.

He was designated by Oakland after a 2022 season that saw him hit just .166. In the early going for the Phillies, he was 9-26 at the plate with a homer. He's always been known as an exceptional defender.

Dalton Guthrie was recalled to take Pache's place on the roster, but it is hard to imagine him getting much playing time.

With Bryce Harper set to return to action on Tuesday against the Dodgers, he'll start in the designated hitter spot, while Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos will play the corners. Jake Cave and Brandon Marsh will be the next two outfielders to find time for.

Marsh especially has been good this season, hitting .337 with four home runs and 14 RBI thus far this season.

The Phillies are currently 15-15 and in fourth place in the National League East.

Current National League East Standings:

1) Atlanta Braves, 19-10

2) Miami Marlins, 16-13, 3.0 GB

3) New York Mets, 16-13, 3.0 GB

4) Phillies, 15-15, 4.5 GB

5) Washington Nationals, 10-18, 8.5 GB
