The San Diego Padres lost to the New York Mets on Friday night, 7-5, in extra-innings, but they lost more than just the game.

The Padres also saw starting infielder Ha-Seong Kim exit the game with a toe injury.

Here's the latest from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Kim jammed his right big toe during Friday's game against the Mets and is considered day-to-day, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

ANALYSIS
In the seventh inning, Kim was thrown out at third base when attempting to stretch a double into a triple. In frustration, he kicked a water cooler in the dugout stairwell, resulting in the toe injury. Kim was subsequently removed from the contest, and Cassavell reports that X-rays on the toe were negative. At this point, it's unclear if Kim will be in the lineup Saturday.

All in all, it's a pretty positive update for the Friars, who have gotten valuable contributions from Kim. The 27-year-old is hitting .255 this year with 10 homers, 31 RBI and 16 stolen bases.

Lifetime, he's a .240 hitter with 29 homers and 124 RBI. He joined the Padres before the 2021 season.

After the loss, San Diego is 41-47 on the season. They are 9.5 games back in the National League West and sit at 7.5 back in the wild card race.

The Padres will play the Mets again on Saturday night. First pitch is slated for 10:10 p.m. ET as lefty David Peterson goes for the Mets.

Fellow lefty Blake Snell pitches for the Padres.
