At the time of this posting, the Tampa Bay Rays lead the Seattle Mariners, 6-5, in the bottom of the fourth inning.

There was a scary moment, however, in the bottom of the third inning when Rays third baseman Isaac Paredes collided with Mariners runner Ty France.

France was attempting to get to third while Paredes was attempting to make a play on a slow grounder.

It was a completely innocent play with an unfortunate outcome as Paredes left the game. France was able to stay in.

The following update on Paredes comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Paredes exited Sunday's game against the Mariners in the bottom of the third inning following a collision on the basepaths, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

ANALYSIS
Paredes remained down for a few moments and eventually went to the clubhouse with trainers. The exact nature and severity of his injury aren't yet clear, but he'll have at least one day to recover before Tuesday's series opener against Philadelphia.

The Rays certainly want Paredes to remain healthy and avoid the injured list and he's one of the most productive players in their lineup.

He's hitting .267 this season with 14 homers and 53 RBI. He was 2-2 in this game before exiting.

The Rays already placed starting pitcher Shane McClanahan on the injured list on Saturday, so they would like to not have to do the same with Paredes.

Tampa entered play at 57-29.
