Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong will avoid a trip to the injured list despite leaving Saturday night's win against the Houston Astros with a wrist injury.

Wong injured his wrist diving for a ground ball and exited in the fifth inning.

After the game, X-rays came back negative. Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times tweets that Wong says a few days of treatment and a good tape job is all he needs and that he'll be ready to go.

Wong's replacement, Jose Caballero hit a go-ahead double in the Mariners historic bottom of the eighth inning. Wong is in his first season in Seattle, acquired via trade this offseason. It's been a rough go for him as he's hitting .190 with 0 home runs and eight RBI. He's also started platooning against lefties, with Caballero seeing most of the action.

Wong has started to come out of it lately, going 7-22 in his last seven games.

He's been a longtime productive player, debuting in 2013 with the Cardinals and going to Milwaukee for 2021-22. He is a career .259 hitter with 82 homers and the Mariners identified him as a needed upgrade at second base this offseason.

Like Wong, the Mariners have struggled this season. They are currently 16-17 and in fourth place in the American League West.

They will wrap up a series with the Astros today at 4:10 p.m. ET as rookie Bryce Miller pitches against Brandon Bielak.

The Astros enter the game at 17-16 overall and are looking to stay above .500.
