Major Injury News Regarding Texas Rangers' Max Scherzer Ahead of ALCS

As the Texas Rangers wait for their ALCS opponent to be determined, they are getting increasingly good news on ace Max Scherzer, who is working to become an option for the team in the next round.

The Texas Rangers finished off a sweep of the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Division Series on Tuesday night and punched their ticket to the American League Championship Series.

It's the first ALCS berth for Texas since 2011 and they will meet either the Houston Astros or the Minnesota Twins.

As the Rangers wait for their opponent, they are getting increasingly good news on the state of their pitching. First, Jon Gray, who was placed on the injured list at the end of the regular season could be an option in the ALCS. Then, there's this update on Max Scherzer from Rangers' Insider Jeff Wilson:

Max Scherzer says he will throw a sim game tomorrow to see how many pitches he can build to. He said his arm felt normal today.

Scherzer has been battling a teres major strain.

It's not a definite that he'll be back for the ALCS, but even if he's able to pitch in relief, it would be a big boost to the team's maligned bullpen.

Between the New York Mets and the Rangers, Scherzer went 13-6 this season with a 3.77 ERA. He made 27 starts in total across the two franchises, striking out 174 batters in 152.2 innings.

One of the most accomplished pitchers of his generation, he's in his 16th year in the big leagues with the Diamondbacks, Tigers, Nationals, Dodgers, Mets and Rangers.

He's got 214 lifetime wins, is an eight-time All-Star and a three-time Cy Young winner. He also helped the Nationals win the 2019 World Series.

Game 1 of the ALCS is on Sunday.
